Comparing services with different privacy strengths

A useful privacy comparison starts with the task you need to perform. Compare collection, retention, sharing, access controls, and recovery for that task; more settings or features do not automatically mean better privacy. Which tradeoffs would you like an example to explain?

I'd like an example comparing simple sharing controls with more detailed ones. More options can make it harder for me to tell who has access.

Recovery matters to me too. I would want to understand what happens if I lose access to the account.

Plain explanations appreciated.

A side-by-side example for one task would be easier for me to follow than an overall winner.

One new thing at a time.
