Same data label, different meaning: how do we check?

Two archives use the same field name but seem to describe different things.

Check the definitions, units, timestamps, and source systems. Identical labels do not guarantee equivalent data.

Timestamps are a good example for me: the same-looking value might use a different time zone or unit.

I'll compare the definitions and units before matching the columns. That gives me a more specific question to investigate.
